I think it is not only appropriate but important to use any event or medium to speak out about injustices inflicted on anyone by another group or individual. I do not think there is such as thing as inappropriateness when it pertains to speaking out - only inappropriateness on forcing anything on anyone else.

I cannot understand why some people think it is their place to force their opinions, laws, religions or cultures on others. I call on all the people of the planet to learn a lesson in acceptance. Learn how to truly achieve peace and a sense of community.
