The purpose of a fish trap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? One of the tabs on my iGoogle home page is a tab on Buddist Quotes. There are several other quotes on the page, but I make a point of reading this tab daily and in particular the Buddist quotes. The quotes always have a message for me - and of course, anything spiritual in nature should contain messages from which we are able to nourish our spirits. Buddhism has always been been a source for spiritual nourishment for me since I was 12 or 13 years of age.

I remember listening to Alan Watts on the radio when I was this age and gaining so much from his broadcasts. I have since purchased several books containing his lectures and return to them frequently - they are a valuable resource to me in my spiritual journey.

I also would like to talk to someone who has forgotten words. Words tend to get in the way of our ideas and for me personally they limit my ability to express myself. I use words often in my visual art because I consider words to be elemental in my creative process - so they should be included.

The presence of words in my visual art should in no way be considered to be a path to understanding the visual elements, because to me they represent the same quality as any other lines. Words in my visual art are present only as an aid to the viewer to have a greater understanding of their own experience.

That is the essence of my art... the expereince of the viewer. I desire anyone viewing my visual art to be able to create their own experience - that is all.
